G. I. Joe 2: 3D Review

Went to see G.I. Joe: Retaliation two days ago. In 3D, a medium of movie-watching I rarely pay for see due to overpricing. I prefer 2D- We've seen TV like this since we were born!

I vaguely remember the 80s TV show from my childhood, much less the names of the characters. Sgt. Slaughter? COBRA! YO-JOE!

Did anyone see the original? If you did, you know that it was directed by Stephen Sommers who directed The Mummy, and Mummy 2. Good movies! (I saw the sequel before the original. I'm a fucking idiot!)
I saw G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra twice, forgetting how the SF Chronicle had reviewed it. If it looks good, I'll see it! I saw it twice: First time alone, second time, with a date.
I think of the first movie as an adrenaline rush (Action, ACTION, OVER-THE TOP ACTION). Now that I reflect on it, the movie was just non-stop action and no story.
Other movies I think of as adrenaline rush are Transformers 1 and 2, and Battleship.

This new G.I Joe movie had it all: Story, plot, The Rock, and . . . BRUCE WILLIS! Way to reel audiences in to see a movie! At the beginning of the movie there are two main characters, Duke and Roadblock. The two joke around from time to time, until Cobra strikes at their platoon while there in the desert. Duke gets blown away and three (magic number) of the good guys are left alive. Roadblock takes the lead and the trio meet up with Joe Colton. Together, the foursome take on the enemy.
The special effect are been-there-done-that. Basically, nothing I haven't seen before.
While the movie is based on an old TV show that is based on a comic book, the 3D seemed unnecessary! But, what can I complain about? The movie was better than the original (Like most sequels are), and I do hope there will be another sequel in a year or 2.
