Reporting In The Rain
Sunday I had planned to continue working on my HOOD1 assignment, which was going to be
do Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was raining on-and-off starting at midday. I didn't let stormy weather stand in my way. I had a job to do and I was going to get it done one way or another.
I took the 71-Noriega to 9th and Lincoln, where I caught the 44-O'Shaughnessy to 6th and Geary. As soon as I stepped off the bus it started to rain. I could see the raindrops as soon as the bus doors opened to allow passengers to exit the bus. Big drops of water pounded against the concrete.
I had a list of things to do which I did not accomplish because of the weather. Reporters shouldn't
work in their neighborhoods when it's raining outside. I would learn that lesson 2 days later. On the bight side, the rain would stop at certain times and then get back on the job of wetting the city. I had come to the Inner Richmond with a job to do, and I was going to do it, rain or shine.
First I listed the details of Kaiser Permanente French Campus. I wonder what goes on inside the
other two buildings. The building on the southern part of the campus looks like an apartment building. I wonder if it is? If it is an apartment building then the residents live in a good part of the Inner Richmond where their doctors are only a small distance away. I stood under a roof outside the main building when taking notes. It was the driest place I could find outside the locale. Once finished I headed down to 9th and Geary, where Star of the Sea School is located.
There was mass when I walked by the church. When I got to the school I had to bear the rain that was wetting my notes. I also took pictures two pictures of the school building with my camera-phone. I wish I had brought my digital camera to take better pictures of the school. Too bad because last weekend when I was in the Inner Richmond I remember that it was raining and I was carrying my digital camera. I managed to take 3 pictures of Star of the Sea Church that rainy afternoon. Now that I was finished I headed to Clement Street, hoping to find Pete Dumville.
People on Clement Street seemed to go by their own businesses, either heading some where or
working. Tourists should come to this street when visiting San Francisco because there is a wide variety of food. The rain had calmed down at this moment. I looked around for Dumville, hoping to find him soon. He wasn't in front of Walgreens nor near the parking lot. Then I thought he might have gone to Reno to settle that dispute he had. It wasn’t' a big deal because there is always tomorrow and I was getting exercise. I headed East on Clement Street. I was going to the Green Apple Books & Music to see if it had any good books. I hadn't been to a neighborhood bookstore in a long time.
